Neither a Borrower nor a Lender Be.
English Idiom
The Borrowers are tiny little people who live in the walls of a house owned by a family named Lender. They are a family of 4,a mom, a dad, a girl, and a boy who live off of things that they borrow from the human “beings” who live in the house. They get around using clever things like dental floss to repel with and birthday candles as flashlights. Life is pretty good for both the Borrowers and the Lenders until an evil lawyer played by John Goodman says he owns the house and kicks them out. He plans to build a shopping mall where the house is. Since the Lenders can’t find the will that proves they own the house, they are out of luck. The story is all about how the kid Borrowers try to save the day by finding the will.
I spotted Tom Felton right away. He plays the youngest child in the Borrower family. Not even the red curly hair and baby face could hide him. His face looks exactly the same as it does in Harry Potter. I love that in this movie he falls in dog poop! I will never take him seriously again! I also like how his sister bosses him around and is so smart! She became my favorite character in the movie.
Hugh Laurie’s part in this movie is very short. He plays Officer Steady a kind of rude policeman. He seems like he doesn’t mean to be rude but just can’t help it. I like how he asks straight out what happened to John Goodman’s face. But, then he makes up for it later by bringing burn cream for it. At the end he gets to be a hero by getting back the will so the Lenders can keep their house. He looks really tan in the movie.
I liked this movie. Some of the special effects were, honestly, kind of cheesy. But, I don’t think that they could help that. It is kind of an old movie. Younger kids will like this because they are small too, and, small things like to watch other small things. Kids my age will enjoy watching and rewinding Malfoy falling in dog poop.
Seriously, it is awesome as a possum!
